Thanks to pictures from three photographers we were able to confirm the parents of the buckskin pinto mare Honeybee, old ID number A29. She was born in 1990 and died winter 2013/2014. Her only known buyback was the 1999 mare God's Grace. Honeybee's updated database record: https://chincoteaguepedigrees.com/pedigree/pedigree.php?id=265
This photo by Jaye Okolovitch was one of the half dozen photos referred in this discovery. The mare with foal Honeybee is Nosey, old ID number 78. Nosey was with Honeybee in other photos that were taken by Liz Spino and Kendy Allen. Nosey is presumably Honeybee's dam and is her only known foal kept on Assateague.
Also in the background of several of the photos (he's in the uncropped version of this photo) was the buckskin Quarter Horse stallion that was released on Assateague in 1981. Considering Honeybee was also a buckskin, his presence in photos, and some physical resemblance he was likely Honeybee's sire.
Notes in Jaye's photo album also told us that her original name was Misty Morning. That name was given to her by her donors the Kelley family. She would have been renamed Honeybee at the founding of the old Chincoteague Pony Association.
